Getting a car loan once your credit has been ruined is, as anyone knows, a nightmare.  There are, however, ways to go about reestablishing your credit, and, strange as it may seem, getting a car loan is one of them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Isn’t That a Contradiction?

It is, of course, a contradiction to say that having bad credit makes it difficult to get a car loan, but that getting a car loan can help to reestablish your credit, but it’s also true.  Everything depends on the kind of loan that you are looking to get.

 

While there are those who would suggest going to a tote the note dealership (a dealership that finances their own vehicles instead of using an outside financing company) as a means of getting a car loan with bad credit, this is not actually your best option as credit reporting agencies do not treat these types of financing with the same consideration that they do with traditional dealerships that use reputable financing companies.

 

It is also not a good idea to get one of these less reputable loans and pay for it using a credit card, even if you pay off the card balance every month.  Yes, you are using ‘credit’ and paying for your bills on time, but that does not mean that paying for a car loan through one of these kinds of dealerships will boost your credit ratings.  This is because there are two kinds of credit; ‘revolving’ credit and ‘installment’ credit and credit reporting agencies do not weight each of these equally when they are totally up your credit score.

 

Revolving credit is considered decidedly less important than installment credit as far as credit reporting agencies are concerned, which is why it is important for someone looking to reestablish their credit to look at applying for some sort of installment loan; and a car loan is probably one of the best ways to do this.

So it seems that we are back to square one.
